The Associated Press’ new office preserves the company’s rich history while also incorporating sleek design elements for a contemporary feel. Many unique design features in the space were accentuated by the lighting design. The newsroom is the heart of the project, and is located at the center of an octagonal building with rectilinear structure.  A custom coffered ceiling design resolves these geometric differences with a series of cross-shaped dimmable uplights. Additionally, there is a memorial to their employees who have died while reporting. The names of the deceased are inscribed in clear acrylic blocks, edge-lit acrylic panels behind the memorial, combined with front-lighting from accent lights.
